I've heard republican pundits time and time again place half the blame of the U.S. getting into the Iraq war on the Democrats that voted in favor of giving Bush use of United States Armed Forces against Iraq.   The truth is a minority (42%) of a minority party (48%) voted in favor of the Iraq resolution. These Republican pundits always act as if the 107 th Congress collectively rubber-stamped Iraq War Resolution.

They want you to believe that on October 10 , 2002 at 3:05 PM the 435 members of the house went in and said yes to H J RES 114 and the same thing happened again in the Senate on October 11, 2002, 12:50 AM

Sure they're were many Democrats that voted yes, a grand total of 110 democrats in the senate and houses voted yea. if you break it down that's 20% of the 532 votes cast. I guess that's not breaking news but I want one network host somewhere to look a republican pundent square in the face and state the simple fact, democrats that voted in favor of the Iraq war resolution were a minority with in thier own party and only accounted for 20% of the total vote.

Out of the 535 members of congress there were 532 that voted on H J RES 114

532 votes cast for H J RES 114 breaks down as
269 republicans
260 Democrats
3 Independents

Republican who voted H J RES 114 Democrats who voted H J RES 114
269 Republicans 260 Democrats
263 of them voted yes 110 of them voted yes
97% (.977) of Republicans vote yes 42% (.423) of Democrats vote yes **

** if you add Sen. Jeffords and Bernie Sanders who both caucus with the Democrats the Democrats number drops to 41% (.419)

OR IF YOU WANT TO THINK OF IT THIS WAY!

Only 20% of all the yeas and nays in both houses was a yea vote cast by a Democrat.

95% (.955) of all of the no votes were from Democrats. (both houses)
